Built in 1903, the Wheeler Mansion stands as a 15,000 sq. ft. architectural treasure. From the gracious home of John W. Wheeler and Almira, to decades of service as a gathering place for the Eastern Star, and now its revival beginning in 2020, the mansion has always been a landmark of community and legacy.
Every detail of the restoration has been guided by one goal: to preserve this iconic estate for future generations. The revival of the mansion honors its storied past while ensuring that its beauty and purpose continue to inspire all who walk through its doors.
With much of the mansion’s interior preservation well underway, our focus now turns to the Hedge Maze Garden—a breathtaking outdoor space designed to complement the grandeur of the estate. Significant progress has already been made with the creation of a living arborvitae maze, a wrought iron gazebo at the star-shaped center, a natural stone border, and a welcoming seating area.
Our next step is building the event space brick patio and pathways. These cobblestone and brick features will not only enhance the garden’s elegance but also create a lasting space for community gatherings, weddings, and celebrations.

The 4×8 brick will have space for three lines, eighteen characters per line and the 8×8 brick will have space for six lines, 18 characters per line.
Bricks will initially be placed in the event area between the carriage house and the hedge maze. Eventually, as the collection of personalized bricks grow, they will be added to the pathways in the hedge and around the mansion grounds.
We order the bricks in the spring to arrive when the ground thaws so they can be placed.
